Accounts Assistant

    The objective of the ETG Accounts Assistant is to provide effective accounts support to ensure that the two ETG businesses daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively.


    1. Provide finance and accounting assistance to Bowers Group & Eclipse Magnetics Company FC’s;
    2. Accurately, prepare and maintain accounting documents and records;
    3. Process, record and control accounts payable financial transactions, invoices and expenses;
    4. Reconcile accounts in a timely manner;
    5. Daily enter key data of financial transactions in database;
    6. Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies;
    7. Inform management and compile reports/summaries on activity areas;
    8. Respond to queries from other departments, external suppliers and customers;
    9. Function in accordance with established standards, procedures and applicable laws;
    10. Verify the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records;
    11. Update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions (e.g., disbursements, expense vouchers, receipts, accounts payable);
    12. Enters data into computer system using defined computer programs (SAP);
    13. Recommend actions to resolve discrepancies;
    14. Undertake all other reasonable work requests to support / assist the smooth running of the department;
    15. Ensure effective liaison / relationship management with other departmental staff, partner organisations and external service providers;
    16. Adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and to respond positively to new and alternative systems;
    17. Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with GDPR and associated guidelines where appropriate.

    • Attend internal and external meetings and courses when required
    • Perform other duties as maybe commensurate with the post which do not change the character or purpose of the post but which are necessary to maintain high standards of business practice
    • Ensure duties are carried out in accordance with the job description and all established Company policies and procedures. Understanding that the job description / associated policies and procedures may be altered from time to time to meet the changing needs of the Company


    • 5 GCSE’s Grade 4-9 or equivalent (Maths & English essential)
    • Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures is desirable
    • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and / or financial reports
    • Excellent Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite & SAP advantageous

    Knowledge and Skills:
    • Finance apprenticeship / AAT Level 2 desirable
    • Proven time management and organisational skills
    • Excellent communication / interpersonal skills to interact successfully at all levels
    • First-class customer service skills and in possession of excellent relationship management techniques
    • Good attention to detail and excellent accuracy
    • Aptitude for numbers
    • Ability to performing filing and record keeping tasks
    • Data entry and word processing skills
