Reporting to the Design Engineering Manager, the Junior Design Engineer will play a key role in the Bowers Engineering Department in ensuring that the Company has a range of high quality, technically innovative, and commercially competitive products to offer to the market as well as ensuring customer’s requirements are met in terms of design and requested delivery dates.

Reporting to the Design Engineering Manager, the Junior Design Engineer will play a key role in the Bowers Engineering Department in ensuring that the Company has a range of high quality, technically innovative, and commercially competitive products to offer to the market as well as ensuring customer’s requirements are met in terms of design and requested delivery dates.

The role of Junior Design Engineer is varied and will include research, creating concepts and prototypes, testing, and developing prototypes, making corrections, and requested changes, as well as providing support to the production process and maintenance services.

To be considered for this role applicants must have:

  • Previous experience working in a similar role, within a demanding and often pressured engineering environment is desirable
  • Preferably educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally within a Mechanical Engineering related discipline, OR time-served engineering apprentice
  • Computer literate with excellent working knowledge of CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks / Inventor)
  • Quality oriented with a good understanding of design and engineering manufacturing procedures
  • Planning, project, and time management expertise
  • Technical knowledge of computer assisted design (CAD) software and/or Solid Works
  • Innovative and creative thinking
  • Experienced in working with metals/fabrications desirable
  • Excellent communication skills - written & verbal
  • Good capacity to gather / monitor information
  • Attention to detail & accuracy
  • Flexibility & Adaptability
