The MWT-1200 Surface Roughness Tester is an advanced hand-held, portable roughness tester with an external probe to access tricky internal features. With a high-precision inductive sensor, wide range of roughness parameters and on-screen waveforms for analysis directly on the device. The dedicated application software can be used to drive the roughness tester, display waveforms, print reports and export readings to Excel.

During measurement, the stylus of the sensor is drawn across the part's surface at a constant speed, the roughness of the surface causes a vertical displacement of the sensor. This in turn causes a change in inductance to coils which is then amplified. The resulting output signal is proportional to the material roughness. This signal undergoes digital processing by the ARM processor for filtering and calculating the various parameters. The results are displayed on the LCD screen or accessed via the application software and can then be stored, printed or exported to Excel.
