Bowers Group seeking an experienced CNC Technician to join our Bradford team, producing high-precision parts that support our world-class measurement solutions.
As a skilled machinist reporting to the Machine Shop Lead, you’ll set up, programme, and operate HAAS CNC machines for turning and milling operations, handling small batch runs from prototypes to short production runs. You’ll also programme vertical machining centres using OneCNC CADCAM, ensuring efficiency and the highest quality.
Your work will involve interpreting engineering drawings, studying sample parts, selecting tooling and producing components to exact specifications. Manual machining on Bridgeport mills and centre lathes will also be required, giving you the chance to apply a wide range of skills.
Inspection and accuracy are key: you’ll use micrometers, DTI gauges, and gauge blocks to ensure parts meet tolerances and maintain our high-quality standards. Teamwork, flexibility, and a methodical approach to deadlines are essential, alongside supporting general shopfloor tasks, maintaining safety, housekeeping, and PPE compliance.
We’re looking for someone with a mechanical or manufacturing engineering qualification, ideally time-served, with experience in high-precision machining, CNC programming/editing, and machining ferrous and non-ferrous metals. CADCAM experience is advantageous.
You’ll thrive in a varied environment, communicate effectively, and take a practical, problem-solving approach. Accuracy, initiative, and enthusiasm for engineering are essential.
