Area Sales Manager (Central West)

Bowers Metrology, part of the Spear & Jackson Group, are seeking an experienced Area Sales Manager to drive growth across the Central and West UK region. This role is ideal for someone who understands engineering environments and can confidently sell technical measurement solutions to both end users and distributor partners.
As Area Sales Manager, you will be responsible for the sales of Bowers Group manufactured products alongside solutions from Baty Vision, Moore and Wright and a portfolio of premium OEM and third-party metrology products. You will manage and develop existing accounts while actively identifying and converting new business opportunities in line with the company’s overall sales strategy.
The role involves planning and managing your own appointments, visiting buyers and engineers, and maintaining strong relationships across a diverse manufacturing customer base. You will grow market presence through both direct sales and distributor development, using a structured approach to prospecting, account management and pipeline development via the CRM system. You will also support key accounts with product training and technical guidance, organise on-site demonstrations including the Bowers Mobile Metrology Centre, attend trade exhibitions, and work closely with Product Specialists to deliver accurate, commercially sound quotations.
We are looking for a sales professional with proven success in selling engineering or measuring equipment into manufacturing environments. Mechanical engineering or metrology experience would be advantageous, as would knowledge of the engineering distributor network. You should be target-driven, commercially aware, and confident interpreting engineering drawings to recommend suitable measurement solutions. Strong organisation, negotiation and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and manage your territory effectively.
A full UK driving licence is essential. The role involves extensive travel within your region, with occasional visits to Bowers UK sites and some overnight stays as required.
